What actually happens in a design consultation

Samples on the table at a first consultation.

Most of our projects start with a two-hour design consultation. People often ask what they’ll get for it, so here is exactly what happens.

Before we arrive

We send a short questionnaire about your home, how you live in it and what isn’t working. Photos, Pinterest boards and rough budgets all help, but none of it is required.

Samples, swatches and a floor plan: the first two hours.

The walk round

We walk every room with you. We look at the light, the way you move through the house, what you love and what you’d happily never see again. We ask a lot of questions and take a lot of photos.

Colour on the walls

We bring our palette samples and test them on your walls, in your light. This is often the moment people see their home differently.

The written plan

Within a week you receive a written plan: priorities, colours with paint codes, layout ideas, an honest budget and the order we’d do things in. You can take it and run with it, or ask us to design the rooms with you. If you go on to work with us, the consultation fee comes off your design fee.
